“We find there is a lack of truly strong female dancers in the percussive panorama…and Paula’s work is incredible and inspiring.” - Los Vivancos (International Flamenco Dance Sensations, as seen on Dancing with the Stars)

“Paula’s choreography involves intricate footwork, high kicks and dramatic moves. She shines during performances and her captivating stage presence vaults her to the top of her profession.”- Island Senator, Libbe Hubley

Paula Roberts made her debut as a dancer at Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside to sold out crowds over ten years ago. Many years later and many experiences in Dublin, London, Toronto, New York, Las Vegas and Halifax, her journey takes her back to Harbourfront for two upcoming shows. Her show Celtic Fire features solo performances by Roberts along with the phenomenal fiddling sensation Richard Wood and Gordon Belsher. Bringing the show together with his lighthearted humour is host, Prince Edward Island’s own Chris Pride, who has been waking up Islanders for the better part of the last decade including the last two years on CFCY in Charlottetown and the co-host of the ECMA award nominated podcast East of the Dial.

Roberts’ dancing style has evolved into an eclectic, expressive, flamenco laced Irish footwork stage performance. Her choreography has always been one of ebb and flow, fast footwork transitioned with elegant, flamenco and upper body movements. Her flamenco style is probably best described as gypsy rather than traditional.

For more than two decades, fiddler Richard Wood has impressed audiences all around the globe. Highlights include TV, guest appearances with Shania Twain on David Letterman, Good Morning America, Carnegie Hall, The Chieftains and performing for the Queen. He has five previous CD recordings and has won three East Coast Music Awards. MacLean’s Magazine named him one of the Top 100 Canadians to watch in the 21st Century. Richard will be accompanied by well-known Island artist Gordon Belsher, who is Wood’s mainstay guitar player and Celtic singer. He began his musical career in the late 1960’s in Edmonton, Alberta with a rock and roll band that toured extensively. A move to P.E I. led to a change in musical direction for Belsher when he formed the Celtic group, Jar O’Comfort. Together, he and Wood have toured the world.

Roberts’ manager, Heather Mountain says “It will be an intimate and interactive show as this is the first time Paula will be performing as a solo dancer.”
