Job Opportunity: Box Office Attendant

Box Office Attendant
Terms of employment: Casual, part time

Reporting to senior theatre management, box office attendants are responsible for providing exceptional customer service to Harbourfront Theatre guests in promoting the theatre’s activities and events. Often the first point of contact for theatre patrons, box office attendants are expected to be friendly, enthusiastic, approachable and knowledgeable ambassadors, helping to ensure the best possible overall guest experience at Harbourfront Theatre.

Duties of the position include:

  • Develop solid knowledge of all events, artist profiles and ticket prices and respond enthusiastically to inquiries in person, on the telephone and online.
  • Operate the theatre’s ticket sales system to assist patrons with seat selection, including special needs patrons (wheelchair, hearing/visually impaired) in the appropriate areas.
  • Process ticket sales and receive payment using cash till and/or Interac terminal.
  • Respond to customer concerns and complaints in a calm, informative and helpful manner.
  • Prepare sales balancing reports at the end of each shift.
  • Write in and monitor a daily communications log.
  • Assist with promotional displays and materials.

  • Solid computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to prioritize and return quickly to tasks after interruptions
  • Excellent numeracy, organizational and time management skills
  • Pleasant and professional telephone manner
  • Friendly and outgoing demeanour

Terms of employment: Casual, part time
Hours: Flexible hours including evenings and/or weekends. Number of hours per month will depend on the theatre’s performance schedule.
